Sister Aliene Sims Cox was born May 18, 1925 to the late Oscar and Carrie Jefferson Sims in Tallahassee, Florida.
She is preceded in death by nine of her siblings. She was raised in a Christian home and introduced to Christianity when she was very young by her parents and family members. She was baptized at an early age at Testerina Primitive Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida under the Pastorage Rev. C.T. Hillyard.
She attended public schools in Leon County. Sister Cox gave birth to a daughter, Willie Beatrice. After traveling around Florida working and living with relatives, she later moved to Detroit, Michigan and lived there for 37 years. While in Detroit, Sister Cox married the late Cicero Cox. She worked as a Domestic Worker and was a member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, under Rev. Brooks, Pastor. After retiring, Sister Cox moved back to Tallahassee for a short period of time then moved to Palmetto, FL. in 1986. Sister Cox joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Rubonia, FL. under Rev. T.D. Leonard, Pastor. She was a Faithful member of the church and served on the Senior Mission Auxiliary. until her health began to fail.
Sister Cox loved her family and met numerous friends. She really enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed entertaining in her home. Sister Cox also was a great COOK.
Sister Cox later became a resident at Bradenton Health Care Rehabilitation Center, Bradenton, FL. until the Lord called her home on Friday, June 10, 2022 at HCA Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, FL.
Sister Aliene Cox leaves to cherish her Precious Memories, Her daughter, Willie Beatrice Davis; Phoenix, Arizona. Grandchildren, Karen (Dwayne) Davis, Sacramento, California, Mark Davis, Tucson, Arizona, and Christopher (Nichole) Davis, Phoenix, Arizona; Great Grandchildren, Devin, Darius, Daryn, Christian, Ryker, Harlowe, and Rowan Davis; Great Niece and Great Neph- ew Syretha and Lenorris Richardson, Jr., Tallahassee, FL; Supportive Caregiver Cousin, Linda Jefferson and Family, Palmet- to, FL; Goddaughters Thelma Thomas, Rubonia, FL and Alice Hall, Bradenton, FL; Macedonia Senior Mission Sisters, and ALL of her Devoted Cousins and Lifelong Friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2022 from 5 to 7 PM at Westside funeral home 204 7th St. W., Palmetto, FL 34221. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2022 at 11:00 a m @ the funeral home.
