Obituary – Alvin L. Salters
On February 12, 2021, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend, Alvin L. Salters, went home to Glory. He was a high school star athlete on the football and basketball teams. He was also on the track and field and baseball teams. Also known as “The Real Salt”, he was one of the best song leaders ever known. He was a part of the song group, The Bradenton Harmonizers, along with Roger Smith, Gregory Milhouse, and Darnell Thomas. As a member of the Church of Christ, he lived a life of service, being active in the Church and the community. He was a part of many board committees, such as the Boys and Girls Club and the Manatee County School Board. He was also a great bowler, winning many trophies with his cousins, Henry Price and Charles Leaks. He is survived by several family and friends: wife – Delseta Salters, son – Tyrone Salters(Linda), daughter – Al-Laycia Salters, niece – Tiarra Johnson, brothers – Willie Salters Jr. (deceased), Delmar Salters (Ella), Carl Salters (Polly), sisters – Melveen Washington (Roosevelt, deceased) and Katherine Coleman (Curtis), grandchildren – Zarah Barney and Preston Salters, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
