Darathula Owens Obituary

 

Darthula Owens was born on May 6, 1924 to the late Booker T. and Betsie E. Neal in Memphis, TN. She transitioned on March 12, 2021.
She attended Brunswick Jr. High School. She accepted Christ at an early age at Bush Gove #1 Church.
In 1949, she moved to Florida and had 11 children, 5 boys and 6 girls. 5 legally adopted children and raised a host of others as her own. She was a private environmental service worker for many years.
Several years after retirement, she was a dedicated volunteer at Meals on Wheels for 40 plus years.
She was a founder and member of Miracle Hole Church (aka Miracle Healing and Deliverance) under the founder of Addie Johnson for 58 years. Her historical moment was when she ate dinner with Elenore Roosevelt, Martin Luther King and with Barack Obama, First Black President of the U.S.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Lavester Settles, Eldrige Smith, Talleferro Owens; Brothers, Booker, T. Neal, Jr. John A. Neal, Jr.; Sisters, Robbie Lee Gibbs, Larvette Edwards and a devoted companion, Willie McNeal, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories:

Dr. Pamela Green Sherron Owens Vivian McNeal Octavia McNeal Dasha McNeal Clesther McNeal
   40 Grandchildren
