A Time to Be Born
Deacon Horace Dozier, Sr. was born on May 3, 1943 to the late James and Massie Dozier.
He is preceded in death by both parents and his youngest brother, Will Dozier.
A Time To Serve
Deacon Dozier accepted Christ as his Lord and personal Savior at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev G. W. Jones. He was ordained as a Deacon under the leadership of the late Rev. Donny James. he humbly served in numerous capacities, but he committed himself to taking care of the finances of the church. He proved himself to be a man of truth, integrity and great moral character and became one of Pastor Lawson most trusted deacons. He also served many years as financial treasurer, Congress #3.
A Time to Love
On September 7, 1962 Deacon Dozier married his life partner, Rosetta Jackson-Sims. God blessed this union of 59 years with six children, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A Time to Provide
Deacon Dozier took pride in being able to provide for his family. He retired from Tropicana Products after 35 years. He also worked as a grave digger for the Parish Cemetery. He was featured in the awarding documentary “Deeper than the Grave” written by Duchess Joyce El.
A Time to Depart
Deacon Dozier lived life on earth as a man of few words ad calm demeanor it was no coincidence that he peacefully traded this earthly life surrounded by family to gain eternal life on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
A Time to be Remembered
Deacon Dozier leaves to cherish his memories: His beloved wife, Rosetta whom he affectionately referred to as honey bun, Children: Pamela Atkins, Gracie (Elder John) Murrell, Theresa (Min. Rick) Johnson, Annett Dozier Janette Dozier and Horace (Cecelia) Dozier, Jr.; Grandchildren: Roosevelt (LaPanza) Atkins, Jr., Courtney, Rikisha Johnson, John Murrell, Jr., Brea (Rodney) Woodie, Jr., Alexandria Lindsay, Janae Murrell, Jordon Murrell, Horace Dozier, III and Christian Dozier; Great Grandchildren; Trevaris, Carter, Jr., NaCourtnei Carter, Breyonna Woodie, Treylin Carte, Brenton Woodie, Bryce Woodie, Rodney Woodie and DaKarai Matthews; One Goddaughter, Cynthia Cooper and Special Niece, Sheila Helms; Brothers:James (Gail) Dozier, Floyd (Ethel) Dozier, Lloyd (Carol) Dozier; Brothers-in-law, Deacon Curtis Sims, Michael (Darlene) Sims; Sisters-in-law: Sis Aquilla Morgan, Patricia Rhodes and Rebecca Hall; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Deacon Dozier loved all of his family, his church family and his friends. He had a special kid of love for his first cousins, Nina Mae (Joseph) Lise; Lena Mae Baity, Albert (Annie) Jackson; Lena Mae Shellman, The Carnes Family, Velma Ann Stokes, Emma Crawford, Hattie Ravenell and Elease Williams; Deacon Carlton Rhodes, Sis. Rubye Barnes, Sis. Daisy Cooper, Deacon Willie Adamson and his long time best friend Eddie McAdams.  Visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Friday March 25, 2022.  Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday March 26, 2022.  Both services will be at St Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church 11801 Erie Rd., Parrish, Fla 34219.  Condolences may be given at www.westsidefh.com
