Mr. Gerald Lee Robinson departed this world on November 28, 2020 at age 82.

He is the son of the late Esko Robinson and Laura Perry, born on September 28, 1938 in Alma, Georgia. 

Gerald professed his faith in God at an earlier age and was baptized at First African Baptist.

He received his formal education in the Bacon County Public School System in Alma, Georgia. In 1956, he was one of the star players on the all-black basketball team that won the First State Championship for Alma High School his graduating year. Upon completion of his formal education, Gerald enrolled at Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. He was then drafted by The United States Army in May of 1962 and stationed at Fort Bragg.  During his time served, he received the Expert Rifle Bar and Parachutist Badge. Gerald was Honorably Discharged in May of 1964 and soon after relocated to Miami, Florida.

Gerald was employed by Miami Dade Transit Authority as a Bus Operator in 1969; a position from which he retired in 2000.

Gerald was the prototype of a “Classic Man”, with a solid record of dedication, hard work, and had a strong but loving nature. He was often seen as a “Gentle Giant”. His Legacy shall forever live on through his principles and traditions that helped shape his family and community.

Gerald is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty two years, Joyce Ann Robinson. 

Gerald was preceded in death by his son Gerald Ruffin (Audra Smith).

He leaves to mourn: six children,  Charlotte Mack (Rod Mack), Trimocco Robinson, Miguel Robinson, Keith Robinson (Tonya Robinson), Maurice Robinson (Theresa Robinson) and Jarrod Robinson (Lashay Singletary); twenty grandchildren, CharneyDavis (Jamar Davis), Laura Robinson, Derrick Seldon Jr., Jazmene Biggers, Jamal Hunter Jr. (Ashley Hunter), Alexis Taylor (Marquez Taylor), Ebony Styles (Fred  Styles), Keishara Robinson, Erielle Watkins, Iyeshah Robinson, Kristle Robinson, Toran Robinson Jr., Emoni Robinson, Kaila Robinson, Jeremiah Robinson, Kiana Robinson, Maurice Robinson Jr., Kenya Robinson, Zoey Robinson and Blair Robinson; sixteen great grandchildren Anterrio Moore Jr., Terriyon Moore, Brice Smith Jr., Anterriyon Moore, Jamal Hunter III, Hayden Taylor, Aubree Hunter, Naira Hannah, Joshua Hunter, Landis Moore, Kennedy Smith, Tristan Taylor, Madison Robinson, Anastasia Styles, Amir White and Kareem Cole; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Eric S George Funeral Home 6107 Miramar Parkway, Miramar, FL 33023.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 11:00 AM at Greater Love  Missionary Baptist Church 18200 NW. 22nd Ave., Miami Gardens, FL 33056.
