Jean Dixon Obituary

Jean Elizabeth Dixon was born, September 5, 1952 in Parrish, Florida to Mary and the late Nathaniel Dixon. Jean gained her heavenly wings on May 12, 2023.
She joined St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Parrish Florida at a very young age. She attended Palmetto high school, where she graduated with honors , this also included a mentorship with Dr. Mary Tillis. She then became employed with GTE which led her to move to California. Upon returning to Parrish She begin working as a secretary at Rutland Ranch. In 1983, she begin her career in the Property and Evidence Department at the Manatee County sheriffs office. Jean’s dedication and passion for her new career led to numerous accolades, including her being named supervisor. Former Manatee County Sheriff, Charlie Wells, recognized her hard work by naming her one of “Charlie’s Angels”. While excelling in her career, Jean found fulfillment in caring for and traveling the United States with her grandmother, great aunt and other family members. She enjoyed many adventures exploring the United States, until her retirement from the sheriff’s office in 2010. Although Jean suffered from chronic illness in recent years, she still experienced joy and happiness alongside family, most especially her grandson Darian (Dj).
For many years the seven sisters “Polly”, Pat, Ann, Brent, Stine, Marion and Tee”, to the family. With all those sister’s names, they were sometimes miscalled them. The sisters all lovingly agreed and began referring to each other by their birth order, numbers 1-7.
Jean the first born, represented her position well, as she was “The Force, Encourager and supporter” to all her siblings on their various avenues of success. Her random acts of kindness and generosity will be greatly missed. As Jean’s number 1 will now be replaced with a loving 2,3,4,5,6,7.
Her Dad, Nathaniel Dixon preceded her in death.
