Obituary

 

 

 

Merlyn Yvette Covington-Crayton, affectionately known as “Tookie”, entered this world on Sunday,  November 15, 1953 in Bradenton, Florida (FL). She was the first of  Mary Louise Covington Walton and the late Franklin Walton, Sr’s. five children. Early Monday morning, at Manatee Memorial Hospital on June 12, 2023, Merlyn went to be with the Lord. 

 

Merlyn joined Ward Temple A.M.E. Church in Bradenton, FL at a young age under the leadership of Rev. Ceola D. Lazier. She continued as a faithful member and usher under Rev. Alethea Winston until her sunset. 

 

She received her education in Manatee County and graduated from Manatee High School in June of 1971. Tookie always had a smile, a loving spirit, kind heart  and cared for everyone. 

 

Visitation is Friday, June 23, 2023 from 5 - 7p at Ward Temple AME Church 1005 5th St W. Bradenton, Fl. Homegoing service is 1p Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Happy Gospel Church (1915 53rd Ave. E. Bradenton, FL.)
