Oscar “Brother” Doss Jr. 1934-2021
So saddened to announce the Home Going of one of God’s Hard Fighting Soldiers Oscar Doss Jr. Born in Bradenton, Florida July 30, 1934 he was a resident of Manatee County for over 80 years. He succumbed to Cardiac Arrest Feb. 6. 2021 at the Homestead Baptist Hospital in the city of the residence of his Son and Family. He was the only son of nine, eight sisters and son of the late Oscar Doss Sr. and Vona Bell Doss. He attended Lincoln High School where he found the love of His Life Earnestine Riley who was on the drill team while he played Football. He was added to the Body of Christ at the 201 -10th Ave. Church of Christ Bradenton, Fl. after marriage and was a Faithful Saint at the East Palmetto Church of Christ until his health began to decline and relocated with his son to Miami. Oscar never laid the plow of God’s service down until he was called home. He was the lead Driver for Belk Lindsey Department & Furniture Store for many years and worked in Construction with Richard Cheaves Construction a dear friend and brother in Christ. He was an Avid Sheepshead Angler and gained the name in the community as “Sheepshead” and could be seen on various bridges near the Manatee Memorial Hospital.
He loved to delight neighbors and friends with his catch and give lessons if you had the patience and gift and willing to learn. His other Loves were Singing Songs of Zion as Church Song Leader, Bar B Queuing , Watching Team Sports Live and on TV,Golf, Making everyone laugh, Free Piggy Backs, Visiting Neighborhood Family and Friends and Whistling. He leaves to mourn his Beloved wife Earnestine (65years) , One Sister Melcena Golfin (Bradenton), Children One Daughter Roylestine(Deceased), 3 Sons Eric (Wife Lana Miami) Reggie Lindsey (Wife Angela Bradenton), Roderick Lindsey (Wife Roselyn Bradenton) 8 Grandchildren Lahoma Reaves, Sam Reaves, Xavier Reaves, Marquita Grant (Paducah, Kentucky), Elantra Doss (Houston, Tx), Naffarterrier Doss (Miami) Reginal Junior (Bradenton), Breanna Scott( Husband Ray Melbourne, Fl.) 21Great Grand Children 2 Great Great Grand Children.
