Sarah Mae Goff was born, November 23, 1930 in Greenwood, South Carolina to the late Mose and Lilla Baylor. After a short period of illness, God called her home on April 27, 2022.
She received her early education at Rubonia Elementary School and Manatee County Public School System. At one time, she was employed by Dixie Grand Hotel. She received her CNA certificate and was employed by Manatee Memorial Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) until she retired in 1984. After retiring, she worked in the community distributing food at the food pantry as a volunteer, she also monitored children on and off the school bus daily, and assisted in caring for the sick and shut-in and bereaved families.
She accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at a very early age. She was a long time member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in Rubonia. Florida, where she served as a Steward and Local Lay President, Local President of the Women’s Missionary Society.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Mose and Lilla Baylor; husband, Lewis Goff; Son-in-law, Earl Hines, II; sister, Almena Green; daughter, Gloria Goff-Green; grandson, Earl Hines, III; and a great grandson, Trayon Goff.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, daughters, Lilla-Loretta Goff, Verna Joyce Hines, Cynthia (Ronald) Sumpter, Linda (James) Goff; Son, Victor (Daphne) Davis; 2 grandsons she raised as her own, Louis B. (Darlene) Goff and Sheddick (Ebony) Goff; 5 grandsons, Eugene (Tasha) Styles, Craig (Felicia) Sumpter, Ronald (Katrina) Sumpter, Carl Hines (Fianće, Ashanti), Jerel (Anna) Goff; 3 grand daughters, Melissa Styles, Takila Hines, Ashley Hines, 27 Great Grandchildren, 52 Great, great grandchildren; Step sister, Viola Bostic; Aunt Betty Mitchell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; Special Friends, Daisy Cooper, Emma Lattimore and Alfreda Nunn; Extended Family, Gissendanners and God daughter, Deloris Lawrence; Special Niece, Ethel Baylor. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Shining Light Church of God in Christ. Celebration of life service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at St. Paul missionary Baptist Church 525 9th Ave. E., Bradenton, FL 34208. Condolences may be given at www.westsidefh.com
