Selester (Rabbit) Johnson

Sylester Johnson was born August 9, 1948 in Bradenton, Florida to the Richard and Ella B. Johnson. He departed this life November 25, 2021 in Bayfront Medical Centre in St. Petersburg, Florida.
“Rabbit” as he was called by many, was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial High School in Palmetto, FL in the Class of 1967. He went on to the United States Army. He retired from Operation Par in St. Petersburg, FL and went on to be employed by Bay Pines Veterans Hospital until his retirement in 2017.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Johnson, Sr.; mother, Ella B. Johnson; two brothers, Ervin Johnson, and Richard Johnson Jr.; three sisters, Inez Ware, Rosalee James, and Ezella Smith.
Sylester leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters: Tracey Washington, Sekinah Bethune; One son, Hasan Fludd; 12 grand- children: Breonte’ Johnson-Davis, Maurice Brooks, Earnesha Brooks, Keesha Jenkins, Rashiya, Miracle, Raelyn, and Moriah Bethune, Skyy, Raine, Clemons and Zaheir Fludd; Seven great grandchildren, Na’meriyah, Nasir, Nakhi, Loveness, Chastity, Nehemiah, and Bronte’; Two brothers, Carmen Johnson, Orlando, FL, Roosevelt Johnson, Palmetto, FL; One sister-in-law, Rosetta Johnson, Ft. Myers, FL; Longtime Companion, Verna Fludd Johnson, St. Petersburg, FL; Special Niece, Gwendolyn Renee Johnson, Bradenton, FL; Special Friends, Alvera Johnson, August Etgen, Marquita Owens, Constine Baskin, Leroy Brown, John Mayes, Sr., Nora Oates-West and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
 Public visitation will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Mt Carmel 1301 2nd Ave., West Palmetto FL 34221.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 4 1:00 PM at Happy Gospel Church 1915 53rd Ave., East Bradenton FL 34205.
