Sharon Yvonne Johnson, better known by her family as “Boss” was born on March 2, 1957. Sharon was born in Palmetto, Florida to the late Adolph Washington (Billy) and Hattie Ruth Jenkins (Mary.) Sharon departed this life on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 in Miami, Florida.
Sharon received her formal education while attending Manatee and Miami public schools. Notably, she relocated to the South Florida area in 1970 where she attended Miami Jackson Senior High School. Her skills extended beyond the traditional classroom food and industrial service industries in a year. No matter the task, Sharon was sure to give her all.
Sharon was baptized under the leadership of Reverend Lawson of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, located in Parrish, FL. Sharon enjoyed going to service and hearing God’s Word and also loved singing hymns along with the choir. New Year’s Eve’s Watch Night was something she enjoyed whenever she was able too. Sharon spent a few years being an assistant cheer coach for the Palmetto Youth Center, and showed tons of support for the team for many years. She enjoyed and participated in the Martin Luther King parade every January and almost never missed a beat.
Mrs. Sharon was born Sharon Washington which changed on April 3rd, 1998 to Sharon Johnson. She was loved and well known by many, and she almost never met a stranger. Aside from being a hard-working, devoted mother and wife for many years, she played an important role in the lives of many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Sharon took pride and honor in showing up for her family, and being one of their biggest supporters. To truly know Mrs. Johnson was to love her, for her lively spirit, her warm hugs, her wisdom, her amazing story telling and her delicious cooking, amongst a long list of other great qualities. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and playing kickball with her family and friends. Sharon was a true “Boss”, and the glue that kept her family together.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories: Husband, Darius Kutell Johnson; Son, Sister, ; Aunt, Addie “Mirra” Washington; Uncle, great nephews, and friends.
