Thomastine Samuels Obituary

Thomastine Samuels was born June 17,1947, in Palmetto Fl to the late Thomas Burrell and the late Daisy Lee Conley. Thomastine received her education through the Manatee County school system. She accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Savior Nov 26, 1972, at Ward Temple A.M.E Church. Thomastine was a long-term resident of Palmetto Florida, where she worked as a Store Clerk at Finna gas station then proceeded with her work at the Pat Groovers grocery store and retired from Palmetto High school. In the early 1990’s, Thomastine was initiated as an Eastern Star of Heroines of Jericho Green Court #66, where she served as a senior attendant over a decade. Thomastine was a member of Skyway Motorcycle Club in St.Petersburg, Fl for many years. Thomastine was the epitome of class, elegance, and most of all “LOVE”. She carried herself with such poise and ignited a room with her exquisite fashions and infectious smile. Thomastine embodied life in many ways through going to church, fishing, playing cards, traveling and being around family. She was a force to be reckoned with. Thomastine encouraged the youth to be successful and to never give up on their dreams.  Thomastine welcomed everyone as family with a loving heart, no one was a stranger to her, she opened her doors to anyone. She influenced many individuals in the neighborhood, at work, and the palmetto community. Thomastine leaves behind a five generational legacy to carry her torch along their journey. As we lay OUR MATRIARCH to rest with great honor comes great responsibility. Thomastine may be gone in the flesh but will always be with us in spirit.

Grandma, your memories will never die. Grandma you always had the feeling to know what was going on in my love life. You knew if the relationship was good or bad and knew if the woman I was dating would make the cut or get cut. Grandma, knew I change, so she was always the one to call me out on my problems and scolded me on the spot when I was wrong with details of the when, where, and how. My response was always, “ you’re right grandma” then i will find the quickest way to escape. I’m going to miss you setting me straight when I’m wrong grandma. Also, you had the best mac and cheese no one could compare to, correction grandma you made every dish the best. Grandma you will not be forgotten!
