Wardell Jackson Obituary

Wardell was born February 29, 1944 in Palmetto, Florida and after a long illness, transitioned on December 9,
2023 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida.
Wardell was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida under the leadership
of Dr. John Evans, Sr., Pastor.
Wardell was a Lincoln Memorial High School graduate in the Class of 1963. He enlisted in the United States
Army as a 1st Sergeant rank and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. While in the military, he obtained a
Masters Degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland. His military specialty was in Logistics and
Communication. During his military journey, which entailed spending time in Vietnam, Italy, and Germany,
Wardell received several commendations/awards including the Bronze Star.
Wardell was employed by MCR Health Services, Palmetto, FL as a Human Resource Director, then was
promoted to Vice President, Support Services and Safety Officer where he worked until his health started to fail.
He loved to travel. He enjoyed watching old western tv shows and sports especially football. He was a collec-
tor of guns and enjoyed car racing. He also loved to read.
Wardell was a generous, determined and disciplined person. He was strong willed and displayed strong
leadership skills in his work performance and in family matters. He loved to give advice to young adults about
education and life situations.
He is preceded in death by his parents; L.T. and Annie Nell Jackson, Siblings: L.T. Jackson, Jr., Shirley Jackson,
Priscilla Jackson, Elsie Ford and Gary Jackson; nephews, niece, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Wardell leaves to cherish fond memories of his life:
Daughter: Stephanie Davis and husband, Jay of Marietta, Georgia.
Son: Michael Jackson and wife, DeAnna of Melbourne, Florida.
Grandchildren: Jarrett Jefferson of Tucson, AZ., Jayera Davis and Jayla Davis both of Marietta, GA., Michael
Jackson, Jr. of Bradenton, FL., Malachi Jackson, Mikhail Jackson, Micah Jackson and Miela Jackson all of
Melbourne, FL.
Sister: Eva Jackson-Bing (Robert) of Palmetto, FL.
Sister-in-Law: Rita Jackson of Bradenton, FL.
Aunt: Mattie Sims of Ruskin, FL.
Nieces and Nephews: Kevin Jackson (Karla), Sonya Jackson, Leslie Jackson, Shawntia Boers (Craig), LeToya
Johnson (Qwame’) and Ricky Taylor. A host of loving cousins, other relatives and friends.
